About this Ketubah Original Text Style Orthodox Aramaic (Click here to view entire wording) Font Style The font in this piece is an exact copy of the font that was originally hand written by Tami and was especially created for this Ketubah. Design
The first letter of this ketubah is illuminated as is traditional in many illuminated pieces. In it, on top of the gold of the Bet, appears the phrase "Shma Israel Adonai Eloheinu Adonai Echad", which has been so central to the sustenance of Israel. Inside it is the Tabernacles with The Ten Commandments and the fire through which God appeared to Israel in the desert.
The Torah itself appears on the bottom. The two Shabbat candles are located in front of the Torah referring to those Jews who cannot study the Torah in full light but have to rely on the inconspicuous light of candles for the study of the Torah in their sometimes not so private homes. A rose and orchid are at the top right hand corner of the piece. At the bottom of this piece is a scene from Jerusalem in a stained glass-like window setting. Grapes on the vine, the plant of festivity, weave through the window. The bridal canopy with the Star of David, as it gracefully weaves through the piece, here turnsinto the bride's hair, gently encompassing the scene from Jerusalem. The Tree of Life on the left, symbolic of the Torah, echoes this dance-Like movement in its exposed roots. A white bird of peace hovers over a typical view of the countryside throughout the window a menorah weaves its way and illuminates the scene with its candle light.
