About this Ketubah Original Text Style Orthodox Aramaic (Click here to view entire wording) Font Style The font in this piece is an exact copy of the font that was originally hand written by Tami and was especially created for this Ketubah. Design
Bet is the first letter of the Ketubah.
It is also the first letter of:
  - the Torah, in the word Bereshit, in the beginning.
  - Briyah, creation.
It's equivalent in gematria is the number 2, and "from this we learn that creation is replete with pairs; holy and profane, male and female, influencer and influenced" (from The Wisdom of the Hebrew Alphabet.) The Bet in this piece has the symbols of the 12 tribes of Israel adorned with flowers and love birds all around.
The paved path leads the eye to an unknown point, symbolic of the unknown path in life that the newlywed couple is about to embark on. It is from this point that the Kanfei Hashchina (the Kabalistic representation of the wings of God) hover over the piece intertwining through it and turns to a cloth symbolizing the bridal canopy.
The Chuppah also stands at this point. Its roof has an opening in it in the shape of the Star of David. From its center one of 7 flames of the menorah is burning and has the word “shalom” (Peace) inscribed in its center. Surrounding are:
  - the names of the months of the Hebrew calendar in the twelve tablets
  - a lion and a lamb, symbolic of Isaiah's prophecy of the lion residing with the lamb; they are resting peacefully together at the bottom of the Chuppah
  - vine leaves to symbolize the festive occasion, meandering through the poles
  - two columns on which the initials of the bride and groom can be inscribed thus personalizing this peace further. (Please refer to the table for cost).
Other things on the path are:
a vase full of fruit from which the wine is made, with the word Lechaim inscribed on it, itself shaped in a Greek style vase decorations, with heads of woman and their hands holding a glass of wine. The orchid that due to its fragrance and beauty is used as a wedding flower.
at the top of the path, the Bird of Paradise, wedding the earthly path with the heavens.
A collage of scenes from Jerusalem embedded in the Judean Hills is in the background.
The Tree of Life, representative of the Torah, has four candles on it, representing the four Matriarchs, together with the two Shabbat candles on both sides of the Bet) and the one light on top of the Chuppah that has the word Shalom (peace) inscribed in its flames. They form the number seven, representing the seven branches of the Menorah.
The wedding ring surrounds the Bet, and the sentence "Harei At Mekudeshet/Ata Mekudash Li on both sides.
At the background the sun is rising to symbolize the dawn of a new day in the lives of the newly wed couple.
On the bottom is a cutout geometric pattern with the words "Mazal Tov" in it. Both words, as well as the ring, are layered with gold. (In the original Ketubah, the cutout is actually done in the paper).

This Ketubah was originally designed in 1985 for a Ketubah exhibition organized in Toronto by Tami Cleitman and Dorian from Dorian Gallery. The original Ketubah has never been sold and is now being offered for sale for the first time. If you are interested in purchasing the original, please contact Tami for details. Note: Because of a textual error in the original Ketubah, it is not recognized as a kosher Ketubah. The Ketubah design has been recomposed and the text has been corrected for digital printing in 2009.
