About this Ketubah Original Text Style Orthodox Aramaic (Click here to view entire wording) Font Style The font in this piece is an exact copy of the font that was originally hand written by Tami and was especially created for this Ketubah. Design
In the centre of this Ketubah is a golden wine cup filled with the fruit from which the wine is made. Inscribed upon the cup is the word "Lechaim", and on both sides are the words “mazal tov”.
At the top, in the centre of the golden Menorah, the word "Shalom" is inscribed in gold and the Star of David, as well as the first letter of the Ketubah, "Bet" are intertwined with the bridal canopy, which continues its meandering pathway throughout the piece.
The blue arches carry the phrase "…the voice of gladness and the voice of rejoicing, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride…" Within them, flowers symbolize festivity, and the various scenes from Jerusalem each carry particular meanings. On the right, the actual worldly Jerusalem is depicted in a scene showing the Tower of David within the walls of the Old City. On the left is depicted the "Jerusalem of the Mind", with the drawing of the Beth Hamikdash inspired by a woodcut print taken from the 16th century Venetian edition of Maimonides' Mishne Torah.
The unlikely combination of the temple, the mountains in the background, the gate and the Tree of Life (a representation of the Torah) conveys the metaphoric sense of "Yerushalayim Shel Maala", the "Jerrusalem of the Mind".
